Food supplement BioTech - L-Tyrosine contains tyrosine, which is not an essential amino acid. This means that our body is able to synthesize it - albeit in small quantities - from the essential amino acid phenylalanine. It is also found naturally in bananas, avocados, and most protein foods such as meat, dairy, and eggs.
The body needs iodine to produce thyroxine. The hormone itself is 65% iodine. Therefore, thyroid disease is more common in geographic areas where iodine intake is low. Tyrosine-containing foods are useful for hypothyroidism (decrease in the activity of the thyroid gland); and if the product also contains iodine, then the symptoms can be significantly reduced.
