GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid)

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA, GABA) is one of the most important neurotransmitters in the brain. It is a chemical substance present in the human body, and is one of the non-essential amino acids that are not able to synthesize protein molecules.

The value of gamma-aminobutyric acid in the body is very high. It performs the most important functions:

  • mediator function . It has a hypotensive, sedative, anticonvulsant effect. In addition, it promotes sleep stimulation, regulates motor activity, improves memory and thinking processes.
  • metabolic function . Improves metabolic processes in the brain and its blood circulation, provides nerve cells with energy. Thanks to gamma-aminobutyric acid, one of the most important effects is carried out - antihypoxic (prevention of oxygen starvation). Also, the metabolic function is due to the removal of metabolic products from the body and the effect on the stimulation of the production of somatotropic hormone by the anterior pituitary gland.

Side positive effects of GABA are:

  • improving the quality of sleep;
  • increased libido;
  • increased levels of growth hormone;
  • burning fat and getting relief.

In bodybuilding, GABA is used because it can stimulate the anterior pituitary gland, which produces growth hormone. Growth hormone, in turn, has a pronounced anabolic and fat-burning effect.

Other side effects of GABA also include mild tingling in the face and neck, changes in heart rate and breathing. However, they DO NOT pose a health risk, usually occur at doses above 4 g per day, and resolve after a few days of use.
